A Lethal Proposition

We recently encountered the latest cover for the Wise Use Movement called marketizing the environment. Free-market environmentalism, however, is nothing new; it’s what the property-rights provocateurs espoused for duping gullible liberals and inciting vigilantes funded by Wise Use trade and industry associations.

Marketizing the environment gave us Love Canal, Silent Spring, and Three-Mile Island. Handing Wise Use the keys to public treasuries is akin to handing them to the armaments industry—a lethal proposition.
