Unnatural Acts

The widespread psychic disturbance over the disintegration of the ecosystem and the breakdown of states — symptomized by apocalyptic religious hysteria and economic frenzy — is a factor of social organization we may not be able to overcome. Absent any significant mobilization of resources to counter the ill effects of market–driven media and education, this modern mental health phenomenon is likely to subvert any rational attempts at resolving these vital issues.
