Essential Element

While the deluded despots at New College of California were long on the rhetoric of celebrity activism and the trappings of moral theatrics, they came up short on the key element of social change for a just society. That essential element is respect — the foundational building block on which all else either stands or falls. By building their careers and reputations on the backs of betrayed students and faculty, the trustees and toadies who sacrificed human dignity for their own glorification ensured the downfall of the institution.

Respect is elemental; ignore it at your peril.
