Silent Secret

Proxy wars for Africa’s bountiful mineral resources produce more than just carnage. As the civil war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo now logs 4 million dead and tens of thousands raped, tortured or mutilated, one has to ask how long transnational corporations and governments supplying the arms can continue acting with impunity. The Greatest Silence, the award–winning documentary by Lisa F. Jackson, exposes the brutality of civil war on women and children in the DRC; US participation in this holocaust is perhaps the world’s best kept open secret.
